With the port, the Roman amphitheater and the cathedral of San Ciriaco, Ancona is a reality to visit in one breath. From here, a stop at the Frasassi caves in the Gola della Rossa and Frasassi Natural Park is a must. Among limestone rocks and sulphurous lakes, you can admire the small temple of Valadier and the hermitage of Santa Maria Infra Saxa, two fascinating buildings carved out of the entrance to a cave. Remaining on the religious theme, we must take a trip to Loreto, famous for hosting the Basilica of the Holy House. This town is one of the most evocative and ancient Marian pilgrimage sites in the Catholic world. In addition to culture and religion, it is also famous for its delicious rabbit in porchetta. A visit should also be made to the Medieval Village of Gradara, sung by Dante in his Inferno. Here is the majestic Malatesta fortress where, according to legend, the lustful Paolo and Francesca of the unforgettable Canto V died, murdered by Paolo's brother in the throes of jealousy. Here, as in nearby Pesaro, you can taste the superb mullet and cuttlefish, as well as the Maccheroni alla Pesarese and lamb chops in wine.
